The Olga and Jules Craen Foundation's Young Musician of the Year 2016.
Apurva Devarajan, felicitated as the Young Musician of the Year 2016, is a versatile pianist and singer who has achieved a distinction in her LTCL diploma from the Trinity College of London and is a winner of the Prof. Blossom Mendonca Award for the highest marks in the Advanced Certificate in the Trinity College London exams held in Mumbai, in 2011. She has performed at numerous public and private recitals in Mumbai, Scotland, Manchester, New York and Sydney, and has received various awards like the Adjudicator? Special Mention Award at the Musiquest All India Piano Competition held in Pune in 2011. She was a semifinalist at the Con Brio All India Piano Competition held at NCPA, Mumbai, 2014 and a finalist at Con Brio 2015.
Apurva studies the piano with Blossom Mendonca, has completed her post graduation in Business Management from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies and also has an undergraduate degree in BA majoring in Economics. Apart from the piano, Apurva is also a member of the Living Voices choir under the direction of Blossom Mendonca. She has performed at the twin operas and Carmina Burana with the Symphony Orchestra of India in 2012 and has sung in concerts from the year 2011. She gave solo piano recitals at the concerts. Apurva also plays the cello and studies voice with Minaish Doctor. She has sung at various events, public and private and has a broad vocal range, achieved by numerous years of coaching in Karnatic music as well as bel canto singing. She has worked as a teacher and accompanist at the Mehli Mehta Music Foundation for 3 years and now assists Blossom Mendonca as a teaching assistant in her studio.
